Bhubaneswar, November 20: In the aftermath of Cyclone Dana, a seven-member central team is set to visit Odisha on November 24-27 to assess the damage caused by the devastating storm.
The team led by Home Ministry Joint Secretary P.K. Rai will tour cyclone affected area and evaluate the extent of destruction across affected districts, including damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and housing.
The team will visit Bhadrak district on November 25 followed by a visit to Balasore and Kendrapara. After assessing the damage in the affected area, the team will hold a meeting with state government officials in Bhubaneswar on November 26.
Odisha government has already initiated relief operations and sought central assistance to expedite rehabilitation efforts. The visit is expected to pave the way for additional support and resources to aid recovery.
Cyclone Dana, which made landfall earlier this month, left a trail of destruction, affecting thousands of families and disrupting essential services. The state government has submitted a preliminary report estimating significant losses of 600 crore, emphasizing the urgent need for aid.
The central team’s assessment will play a crucial role in determining the financial assistance required to rebuild and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
