Bhubaneswar, Oct 25: The ‘Cyclone Dana’ crossed the north Odisha coast close to Habalikhati nature camp (Bhitarkanika) and Dhamara, said the recent newscast of the IMD.
The bulleting mentioned that the Cyclonic System passed the Bhitakanika during 0130-0330 hrs IST on Friday as a severe cyclonic storm.
During the landfall process the cyclone passed the Habali Khati Nature Camp with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph while its gusting speed was recorded 120 kmph.
Landfall process yet continues which will last at least 2-3 hours to move farther and will be gradually weakened. The rear sector of the cyclone is observed entering into land, the IMD’s latest bulletin mentioned.
Director, IMD Regional Center Odisha, Bhubaneswar Manorama Mohanty while briefing media persons on Friday said, the landfall process of the Cyclone Dana is yet underway which will trigger extremely heavy rainfall and further stormy wind in the adjacent areas. Apart from it, most parts of the state will receive heavier rainfall due to the impending situation of Cyclone Dana.
