Bhubaneswar, February 11: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has launched an integrated maternity benefit scheme, merging the Mamata scheme with the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).

Under this initiative, women will receive ₹10,000 for giving birth to a baby boy and ₹12,000 for a girl, an increase from the previous ₹10,000 for female children. The benefits apply to a maximum of two children, except in cases of twins.

The scheme aims to support maternal health and encourage the birth of girl children. Additionally, incentives for Anganwadi workers have been raised, with workers now receiving ₹250 (up from ₹200) and helpers getting ₹150 (previously ₹50).

The Odisha government has allocated ₹511 crore for the scheme, with ₹115.97 crore contributed by the Centre. The initiative is set to benefit around 4.5 lakh pregnant women and new mothers across the state.
