Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para-badminton player Deep Ranjan Bisoyee has added another feather to his cap by securing a bronze medal in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4 category at the Spanish Para Badminton International Level-1, 2025, held from 12-16 March 2025, in Toledo, Spain.
Deep Ranjan and Manoj Sarkar displayed exceptional skill and determination, advancing to the semifinals after a thrilling victory over the Indian pair Naveen Shivakumar and Jagadesh Dilli in a hard-fought match that went down to the decider. This win was particularly significant as it avenged their previous loss to the same pair in the Spanish Para Badminton International Level-2 tournament.
However, an unfortunate injury to Manoj Sarkar in his singles quarterfinal match forced him to retire, leading to an automatic walkover in the double’s semifinal. The duo was among the favorites to reach the finals, making the turn of events especially disappointing.
With this achievement, Deep Ranjan Bisoyee has now won medals in two consecutive international tournaments in Spain, further cementing his position as one of India’s top para-badminton players.
