New Delhi, February 3: The Delhi High Court on Monday declined to provide an urgent hearing for a plea challenging the distribution of "freebies" and cash-driven schemes by political parties ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the national capital.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D.K. Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela stated that the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) would be addressed in due course as per the regular schedule.
The petitioner’s counsel, representing S.N. Dhingra, a former high court judge, had requested an expedited hearing around 2 p.m., but the court did not find grounds for urgency.
