Boudh, Feb 4: In a tragic incident, an elderly woman was killed and two others sustained grievous injuries in a road mishap at Chamapur Square in Odisha’s Boudh district this morning.
The deceased has been identified as Satyabhama Meher of Champapur.
As per reports, the mishap occurred on Khurda-Bolangir State Highway No 57 near Chamapur Square when the driver of a car, going from Boudh and towards Phulbani, lost control over the wheels and hit an elderly woman.
Subsequently, the ill-fated vehicle rammed into a garage where it injured two others and fell into a 10-feet deep ditch.
Tension prevailed in the area following the mishap as the locals staged a road blockade by burning tires, demanding compensation for the deceased's family.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and pacified the agitators. The cops subsequently seized the deceased woman’s body and sent it for post-mortem. Two individuals who were in the car have been detained.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
