Stuttgart (Germany), July 6: Both teams are world class. Both have lifted numerous global soccer titles in the past. But in the clash of titans and title favourites, spirited Spain ended hosts Germany's party in the UEFA Euro 2024 quarterfinals to book a berth in the final four.

Spain will take on France, who won their quarterfinal match against Portugal in a penalty shootout.

In the Spain-Germany quarterfinal battle, Spain beat Germany 2-1 after extra time in a dramatic Euro 2024 quarter-final on Friday.

In the battle of equals, substitute Florian Wirtz fired in an 89th-minute equaliser to rescue Germany after Dani Olmo's second-half strike, but Spain substitute Mikel Merino headed into the top corner in the 119th minute to break the home nation's hearts.

After the match, German veteran Thomas Muller left the pitch in tears. Most likely, he played his 131st and final game for his country.

Muller wrote on his Instagram, “I am proud to be part of this team and above all proud to be German. Let’s take this feeling without back into our daily lives during these current times.”

The hosts Germans, who love their soccer madly,   are understandably heartbroken after the shocking defeat in the quarterfinal against Spain.
