Sonepur, Nov 25: Renowned filmmaker Raj Kishore Hota is beaming with pride after winning the Best Feature Film Award for his latest work, ‘The Mountain Hockey’. Reflecting on this achievement, Hota expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support from his audience and the Odia community.
“I am immensely grateful for the love and support my audience and my Odia brothers and sisters have shown to my film. It’s a moment of pride to see our work being celebrated,” he stated.
In his remarks, Hota echoed the sentiments of veteran filmmaker Rajappan regarding the pivotal role of subsidies in attracting filmmakers to Odisha. “Subsidies make projects financially feasible, encouraging creators to utilize Odisha's rich talent and resources,” he emphasized, highlighting how such support can stimulate the local film industry.
When discussing the essence of content creation, Hota stressed the importance of resonating with the audience. “A script, whether original or inspired, must connect deeply with viewers. While stories can be adapted or dubbed across industries, it’s the cultural and emotional connection that truly resonates,” he noted.
Hota pointed to successful films like Daman and Pratiksha as prime examples of how originality can leave a lasting impact in the cinematic world. “These films demonstrate that staying true to our roots while innovating in storytelling can carve a unique space for Odia cinema,” he remarked.
Looking to the future, Hota is optimistic about the emergence of young filmmakers with fresh ideas. He believes that this new wave of creativity will bring about a significant transformation in Odisha’s cinematic landscape, paving the way for a vibrant and innovative film industry.
