Speaking to the media, Suraj stated, “We will seek an explanation from the OCA regarding the floodlight malfunction. This occurred despite the OCA taking all necessary precautions and making detailed arrangements.”
Each floodlight tower was equipped with two backup generators. When one generator malfunctioned, we switched to the second one. However, it took some time to move the generator because the players’ vehicle was parked between the tower and the second generator, OCA Secretary Sanjay Behara told reporters.
Barabati-Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdous, who was present at the stadium, also criticized the OCA for the glitch. “What happened at the Barabati stadium is highly unfortunate. An impartial investigation should be carried out,” she said.
It is worth mentioning that malfunction of the floodlight halted the much anticipated India-England ODI at the Barabati Stadium Cuttack on Sunday for around 30 minutes. The match resumed after the floodlight, that had gone off due to DG related glitches, was repaired.
