Bhubaneswar, Jan 25: Four persons from Odisha - Gopinath Swain, Binod Maharana, Bhagabat Pradhan and Binod Kumar Pasayat - have been selected for the prestigious Padma Shri awards for 2024
Gopinath Swain,105-year-old Krishna Leela singer from Ganjam and Bhagabat Pradhan, 85-year-old Sabda Nrutya performer from Bargarh will get Padma Shri Awards from Odisha.
Bhagabat Padhan, an exponent of Sabda Nrutya Folk dance from Bargarh, who has taken the dance form beyond the temples will be conferred with Padma Shri.
Gopinath Swain, who dedicated his life to preserve and promote Krishna Leela will be conferred with Padma Shri.
Shilpi Guru Binod Kumar Maharana is a master painter and Pattachitra artist based in Bhubaneswar. Maharana is a recipient of National Award (All India Handicrafts Board, New Delhi in 1974), Viswakarma Citation in 1983 and the State Lalit Kala Akademi, 1983.
Binod Kumar Pasayat of Sambalpur town is a renowned lyricist, playwright and poet.
