Bhubaneswar, Jan 30: The state government is focusing on bolstering ethical research practices and innovation in healthcare, said Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling on Thursday.
The state government is committed to give the best healthcare facilities to its people. In order to achieve that goal, strengthening ethical research practices and innovation in healthcare are very much essential, Mahaling said.
The Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS) today installed its Research Ethics Committee (REC), reinforcing its commitment to promoting ethical research practices in medical and health sciences.
Dr. Justice D P Choudhury, Chairperson, REC, OUHS, emphasized on the importance of ethical compliance in medical research and the responsibility of researchers to safeguard patient rights and scientific integrity.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Manash Ranjan Sahoo, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, OUHS, who highlighted the university's progress and its vision for advancing ethical research.
A symbolic inauguration of the solar panel and the OUHS website was conducted, signifying the institution's commitment to sustainable initiatives and digital transformation.
Prof. (Dr.) Y Roja Ramani, Member Secretary, REC, OUHS, briefed the gathering on the aims and objectives of the Research Ethics Committee, emphasizing the critical role of ethical oversight in ensuring integrity in research.
The Research Ethics Committee members were officially inducted, highlighting their shared commitment to ensuring the highest standards of ethical compliance in medical and healthcare research.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Santoshi Sahoo, Registrar, OUHS.
