Deogarh/ Keonjhar, Jan 14: A woman was killed in an elephant attack late last night in the Riamaal Range under Kundai Gola Section of Deogarh district.
The incident occurred when the woman, identified as Kuni Behera, stepped out of her home at midnight and was attacked by a herd of elephants.
Despite efforts to save her, she was declared dead at the nearby hospital.
Being informed, the local forest department officials reached the spot and are investigating the situation. Efforts are being made to prevent further attacks in the region.
In another incident, the wild elephants went on a rampage late on Monday night creating terror among residents. The herd of elephants destroyed two houses in the Ghatagaon Range and five other houses in the Patna Range of the Keonjhar district.
The local community remains fearful, and authorities are taking action to address the situation.
