Bhubaneswar, December 8: A big deal suspected to be an illegal gold trade was foiled in Bhubaneswar on Saturday after the CBI conducted an instant raid on a car parked before the Mayfair Hotel.
A huge cash and gold ornaments were seized from the car during inventory whereast the owner and three others were detained in this connection.
Though CBI has never commented on the matter yet, primary investigation revealed that a six-member of CBI raided on the Mercedes Car bearing Registration Number OR-02BV-9999, parked before the hotel on a solid tip-off.
As the unaccounted cash and gold were recovered from the vehicle, it was escorted to the Nayapalli Police Station for further investigation.
According to reports, counting of the hefty amount and assessment of the gold ornaments, have been concluded.
Authorised person of the CBI would formally report on the matter,said a sleuth, and IIC Nayapalli Police, who were parts of the raid.
While illegal gold trading and unauthorised realestate business are on the rise in Bhubaneswar, seizure of hefty amount of cash and gold ornament is going to open up a new folder of crime in the Capital City, anticipate some former police officers.
