'I Kill You': Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir receives death threat

New Delhi, Apr 24: On the day of horrific terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed lives of 28 civilians, head coach of the Indian cricket team Gautam Gambhir reportedly received a death threat from 'ISIS Kashmir'.

As per reports, Gambhir, a former BJP MP from East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, got the death threat via e-mail, which contained three chilling words 'I Kill You'.

Gambhir got two threatening e-mails on Tuesday —one in the afternoon and another in the evening. Both emails had the same message. 

In the aftermath, he contacted the Delhi Police on Wednesday and sought quick action. He officially filed a First Information Report (FIR) with Rajinder Nagar Police Station SHO and the Central Delhi DCP to safeguard his family's security.

"Former BJP MP and current head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, received a death threat from 'ISIS Kashmir'. On Wednesday, he approached the Delhi Police, filing a formal complaint for an FIR and seeking measures to safeguard his family's security," the office said.

Notably, this isn’t the first time he has received such threats. Back in November 2021, when he was a Member of Parliament, he got a similar email.

Gambhir had on Tuesday condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack. 

"Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike," Gambhir wrote on his ‘X’ handle. 

Notably, as many as 28 civilians, mostly tourists, were killed when terrorists opened fire at Baisaran, a well-known meadow near the resort town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, around 3 PM on Tuesday. 

Among those who died were an Indian Navy officer and a member of the Intelligence Bureau.
