Madhubani, April 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday vowed to bring to justice all those involved in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, declaring that the perpetrators and their supporters would be tracked down and punished "beyond their imagination."
"From the soil of Bihar, I say to the entire world: India will identify, track, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the earth," Modi said while addressing a public gathering in Madhubani.
In his first public comments following Tuesday’s deadly attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam, which claimed at least 26 lives, the Prime Minister strongly condemned the incident. "India’s spirit will never be broken by terrorism. Such acts will not go unpunished," he declared.
Reaffirming the country’s commitment to justice, Modi said, "Every effort will be made to ensure justice is served. The entire nation stands united in this resolve."
Expressing gratitude for international solidarity, Modi said, “Everyone who believes in humanity is with us. I thank the people and leaders of various countries who have stood by India in these difficult times.”
He further asserted that those responsible for planning and executing the attack would be punished in ways they could never anticipate. "The enemies of the nation have dared to strike at the soul of India," he said.
Before his address, a moment of silence was observed by Modi and the assembled crowd during the National Panchayati Raj Day programme to honor the victims of the Pahalgam attack. Modi referred to the deceased as "our family members" and urged the gathering to remain seated in silence as a tribute.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also condemned the attack, expressing solidarity with the victims and affirming the nation's unity against terrorism.
Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh echoed this sentiment, stating that the country had full faith in Prime Minister Modi's leadership and trusted that an appropriate and strong response would be delivered to those behind the attack.
