Raipur, April 24: In a major offensive against Maoist insurgents, three Maoists were gunned down by security forces in the Karregatta hills of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. Their bodies have been recovered.
The fierce encounter, still ongoing, is part of a large-scale joint operation launched Monday by Telangana and Chhattisgarh police. Over 150 Maoists, including top leaders like Hidma, Deva, and Damodar—each carrying ₹1 crore rewards—have been surrounded.
The operation involves CRPF, COBRA, DRG, STF, and Telangana’s Greyhound Force. More than 100 IEDs have been found, and mine-clearing efforts are underway.
The crackdown follows intelligence inputs and Maoist warnings advising locals to avoid the area. This operation mirrors recent successful strikes in Sukma and Dantewada, underlining a renewed push to eliminate Maoist threats along the border.
