IMD issues red warning for heatwave in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, March 16: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red warning for heatwave conditions in Odisha, expected to last until March 17.

The midday bulletin indicates severe heat waves in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Sonepur, and Boudh today. An orange warning has been issued for Angul, Bolangir, and Sundargarh, while a yellow warning is in place for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Gajapati, where heat waves are likely in isolated areas.

 Warm nights are expected in Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, and Boudh. Hot and humid conditions will affect parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

 On March 17, a red warning remains for severe heatwave conditions in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Kalahandi. Orange warnings will be in effect for Sundargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Bolangir. Yellow warnings are issued for Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Mayurbhanj, with hot and humid conditions expected in Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. Warm nights are predicted in Balangir, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, and Boudh.

 For March 18, the IMD has issued orange and yellow warnings for heat waves in parts of Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, and Kalahandi. A yellow warning for heat waves is expected in Balangir, Kalahandi, Boudh, and Sonepur on March 19.
