Hyderabad, Nov 17: Actress Kasturi Shankar was arrested by Chennai police in connection with a controversial hate speech targeting Telugu people, was arrested in Chennai.
After the actress said, “I urge Telugu people in Tamil Nadu to support the Brahmin community's fight for dignity," an outrage was sparked among the Telugu-speaking people.
Anticipating law & order situation relating to community, the Chennai police registered a criminal case against the actress. Following this, Kasturi went into hiding to get rid of police action.
Later, she expressed regret for her remarks on social media. In her statement on Nov 5, she apologised for any unintended offense and withdrew her references to Telugu people on her remark.
As the case went a violent turn, she filed bail pleas in the Madras High Court for legal relief but in vain. Finally, the police apprehended her on Saturday who was on a hide-out from the Narsingi area.
