Bengaluru, April 27: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan paid a heartfelt tribute to former ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Kasturirangan, who passed away at the age of 84. 

Describing him as a "priceless gem" of the nation, Pradhan highlighted the visionary leader’s lasting contributions to science, education, and public life.

Dr. Kasturirangan was cremated with full state honours today in Bengaluru.

Reflecting on his legacy, Pradhan said, "Dr. Kasturirangan was a priceless gem of our country. He established new benchmarks and reached great heights, especially in the realms of science, education, and social development."

Serving as the head of the Indian Space Research Organisation from 1994 to 2003, Dr. Kasturirangan played a pivotal role in advancing India’s space program. Beyond his contributions to space science, he also made a significant impact on the country’s educational landscape as the chairperson of the committee responsible for drafting India’s National Education Policy.

"I had the privilege of working closely with him," Pradhan said. "The successful implementation of the education policy will be a true tribute to his vision and dedication."
