Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) today announced a special rail tour package from Odisha for the Maha Kumbh 2025 being held in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.
The five-night, six-day tour, named ‘Maha Kumbh Punya Kshetra Yatra,’ is scheduled from January 21 to January 26, 2025, and will cover Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya. The train will pick up and drop off tourists at Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore, Hijli, and Tata Nagar stations.
The tour is available in two travel classes - ‘Sleeper’ and ‘Third-AC.’ The fare is priced at Rs 20,905 per adult for Sleeper class and Rs 28,350 for Third-AC. For children aged 5 to 11 years, the fare is Rs 19,250 in Sleeper class and Rs 26,555 in Third-AC. Passengers booked as single travelers will share occupancy with others on a sharing basis as per the booking arrangements.
Indian Railways is offering approximately 33% concession to promote rail tourism under the Bharat Gaurav Train scheme, and the prices mentioned above already include this concession.
Accommodation at Prayagraj Kumbh will depend on the availability of tents. If tents are unavailable, the Prayagraj Kumbh visit may be organized as a day excursion from Varanasi.
Details of destinations and places covered are as follows:
- Varanasi: Ganga Aarti, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple
- Ayodhya: Ram Janma Bhoomi, Hanumangarhi
- Prayagraj: Triveni Sangam
The package includes a comfortable train journey, overnight stays, and facilities for freshening up. Visitors will be provided with vegetarian meals throughout the trip, including morning tea, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Accommodation will be arranged in Varanasi, while in Prayagraj, you'll stay in shared tents near the Kumbh area (4 people per tent).
If tents are unavailable, the Prayagraj visit will be organized as a day trip from Varanasi. The package also includes travel insurance, the assistance of professional tour escorts, onboard security, and the support of IRCTC Tour Managers for a hassle-free experience.
