Prayagraj (UP), Jan 16: After Maha Kumbh 2025 unfolded in the holy city of Prayagraj, the Triveni Sangam has become a vibrant hub of spirituality, devotion, and extraordinary sights. Among the diverse saints and seers showcasing their unique talents and traditions, Ramesh Kumar Manjhi, famously known as "Kaante Wale Baba," has captivated the crowd with his astonishing act of lying on thorns.
Speaking about his practice, Baba shared, "I serve my guru. The knowledge and strength I have are blessings from the divine. It’s all God’s glory that allows me to lay on thorns. I have been doing this every year for the past 40-50 years. It benefits my body, and it never hurts me.” Baba also revealed that he donates half of the 'dakshina' he receives to those in need and uses the rest for his personal expenses.
Notably, the Maha Kumbh began on January 13 and will continue until February 26. It is hosting a diverse group of attendees, from devotees to international visitors.
The grand festival witnessed its first "Amrit Snan" on Tuesday (January 14), the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti. The upcoming key bathing dates are as follows: January 29 (Mauni Amavasya - Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami - Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
