Prayagraj (UP), January 30: A fire broke out in 15 unauthorised tents set up in an open area in Prayagraj on Thursday. The incident occurred in the Chatnag Ghat Police Station area. Firefighters quickly responded to the scene and managed to bring the flames under control. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Pramod Sharma, an official with the Uttar Pradesh Fire Department, confirmed the fire, stating, "We received information about a fire in 15 tents under the Chatnag Ghat Police Station area today. Our teams acted swiftly to control and extinguish the blaze."
Sharma further mentioned that the tents involved in the fire were unauthorized. "As per the SDM, these tents were erected without permission. The situation is now under control, and thankfully, no one was injured," he added.
This incident follows another fire during the Maha Kumbh, where an explosion of three cooking gas cylinders caused a blaze, though there were no casualties in that case either.
In a separate, tragic incident on Wednesday, a stampede at the Maha Kumbh left 30 people dead and 60 others injured. In response, the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a financial compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the victims. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a judicial inquiry, with a report to be submitted within a set timeframe.
