Prayagraj (UP), January 14: The Kinnar Akhara, led by Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, emerged as a major highlight of the occasion On the first Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025.
In the afternoon, members of the Akhara gathered at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, to take the holy dip. As they bathed in the holy waters, they offered prayers for the nation’s prosperity and progress, marking the celebration of Makar Sankranti.
Chanting “Har Har Mahadev” with enthusiasm, the procession made its way to the Sangam, with Acharya Mahamandaleshwar walking at the center, sheltered by an umbrella and accompanied by other prominent Mahamandaleshwars of the Akhara. The event was filled with energy as the sadhus of Kinnar Akhara brandished swords and displayed their traditional weapons, ushering in the Amrit Snan with zeal and devotion.
Acharya Laxmi Narayan Tripathi said, "Today, we are at Sangam Teerth for the first Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025, and we are overjoyed to be part of this sacred occasion. We wish everyone a very Happy Makar Sankranti." Ramya Narayan Giri, another member of the Akhara, added that during this significant event, the members prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the nation. They highlighted that the Mahakumbh is not just a religious gathering but also an opportunity to spread positive messages across society.
The Kinnar Akhara’s participation was marked by an impressive display of traditional rituals and martial arts. Members proudly exhibited their strength and rich heritage, wielding swords and other weapons, filling the air with powerful energy and deep devotion. The Akhara’s presence at Mahakumbh 2025 stood out as a unique and influential moment, underscoring the importance of uplifting and supporting all segments of society, a cornerstone of Indian culture.
According to the Uttar Pradesh government, around 2 crore devotees had taken a holy dip at the Sangam during the first Amrit Snan of Mahakumbh 2025.
