Prayagraj, Feb 16: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday participated in the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj and took a holy dip at Triveni Sangam.
Speaking to media, Pradhan said, "I feel an immense sense of purity. This is a great blessing from my ancestors, a gift to society, and a reflection of our timeless civilization, which has been so kind to all of us.”
“Today, at the Mahakumbh at Triveni Sangam, a place of great reverence in our tradition, I experienced an overwhelming sense of compassion. It is a privilege to be here after 144 years. We don't know how many generations ago our ancestors took part in this, nor how many future generations will have the opportunity. This is one of the most significant moments of my life, a truly joyous and sacred experience," he added.
He further remarked, “I offer my prayers to Lord Mahaprabhu Jagannath, Mother Ganga, and the Triveni Sangam. The Kumbh, with its vast crowds and deep spiritual significance, is not merely an event—it is a true reflection of our faith and civilization.”
When asked about Lalu Yadav's comments, Pradhan responded, “It is disheartening to hear remarks like those from Lalu Yadav, who dismiss the Kumbh as useless. On this sacred occasion, I choose not to speak negatively of anyone, but the Kumbh is an integral part of our heritage. It symbolizes the unwavering faith of our people, and it is this very belief that keeps the Kumbh alive. Devotees come with immense patience, and as long as faith endures, the Kumbh will continue to flourish.”
