Cuttack, Jan 20: The Odisha government approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Cuttack's long-awaited Mahanadi Riverfront project with a total budget of Rs 200 crore.
It aims to rejuvenate the riverfront into a vibrant urban space that will boost tourism and enhance recreational opportunities for residents.
In the first phase, Rs 38 Cr has been allocated to develop a 3.5 km stretch along the river.
The project is expected to transform the riverfront into an eco-friendly zone.
Authorities are optimistic about overcoming previous challenges after a similar project was halted by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in 2022 due to environmental concerns.
If executed successfully, the riverfront will not only enhance the city’s infrastructure but also provide citizens with a scenic space.
