Bhubaneswar, Jan 14: On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took holy dip at Baitarani River at Patna in Keonjhar district today.
The Chief Minister visited his home district and took holy bath at the river.
Earlier, CM Majhi wished everyone through his ‘X’ handle. He wrote, “Warm greetings and best wishes to everyone on the occasion of the holy Makar Sankranti. May this holy festival fill everyone’s lives with happiness, peace and prosperity.”
Notably, Makar Sankranti is a major festival in Odisha which signifies the start of the sun's journey towards the northern hemisphere. Celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the state, people participate in traditional activities such as flying kites, taking holy dips, visiting temples. Makar Chaula, a special sweet dish, is also made for the occasion.
