Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: Former Jharsuguda MLA Deepali Das today said that she will write to the State government demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the murder case of her father and late Odisha Minister Naba Das.
Speaking to the media, Deepali said, “I have urged the State government and the Chief Minister to initiate a CBI investigation into the case. Our family is reviewing the progress of the current investigation and will soon write to the government in this regard. If the government is sensitive to this issue and truly honors my father’s memory, I believe they should take this step.”
She assured complete cooperation from her side in the investigation process and said, “We will do whatever is required to aid the investigation and support it in every possible way.”
It is worth mentioning that the murder took place on January 29, 2023, when Naba Das was allegedly shot by Gopal Das, a former assistant sub-inspector of police, in Brajrajnagar area of Jharsuguda district when he was stepping out of his vehicle.
The minister was rushed to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he was declared dead. The accused Gopal Das was arrested the following day, and the Odisha Crime Branch was handed over the case for investigation.
