Bhubaneswar, January 21: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday laid emphasis on value education.
While gracing a 3-day national workshop on the NPE 2020 at Bhubaneswar in Odisha today, Prdhan said that the NPE 2020 will bring about a drastic change in the education system. It will build up the nation in the classrooms through a robust teaching-learning process and reformed curriculum that encapsulate state’s glorious history, heritage, and the ideologies of the notable personalities. Starting from the lower primary stages to the higher educational institutions, a holistic approach with essential reforms has been incorporated in the new education policy, to instill values and life-centered skills among the new generations.
The three-day national workshop on the New Education Policy-2020 was kicked off today at the Lokseva Bhavan.
The workshop aims to discuss on the advantages of implementing the new education policy in Odisha context. Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the importance of creating sound infrastructure and quality education in the primary education sector. He announced that the state government has decided to implement the new policy from the next academic year, replacing the existing 10+2 system with a 5+3+3+4 structure.
The policy also emphasizes the use of technology in education, with teaching through technology becoming an integral part of the education system. Chief Minister Majhi highlighted the importance of the new policy in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a developed India.
Key features of the new policy include the opening of Kindergarten (KG) schools with a focus on pre-school education, and the establishment of Sishu Vatika schools to provide basic and numerical knowledge to children without pressure. The state government plans to create extensive infrastructure to support these initiatives.
Among other educationists and academicians, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond attended the programme and shared his insight on the new curriculum framework, all set to be implemented for the state.
