New Delhi, Feb 17: The new Chief Minister of Delhi will take oath on February 20 at Ramlila Maidan, said BJP who stormed to power in the national capital after 27 years by defeating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The BJP Legislative Party meeting is set to take place on February 19. It was earlier scheduled to take place today before being postponed for two days.
"The BJP Legislature Party meeting scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed and will now take place on February 19. Additionally, the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister will be held on February 20 instead of February 18," a BJP source stated.
As per BJP sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers of various states, NDA leaders, Union Ministers, industrialists, film stars, cricket players, saints, and sages will attend the swearing-in ceremony.
The event is expected to be attended by around 12,000-16,000 Delhi residents along with various saints, sages, and diplomats from various countries.
Several names are being considered for the position of Delhi Chief Minister, with Parvesh Verma emerging as a leading contender. The BJP had fielded Parvesh against AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal in New Delhi, where he gained prominence by defeating Kejriwal.
It is worth mentioning that the saffron party ended AAP’s decade-long dominance by securing 48 seats in the 70-member Delhi Assembly and returning to power in the National Capital after 27 years. While the AAP bagged 22 seats, Congress was unable to secure one seat.
