New Delhi, March 1: To reduce pollution in the capital, Delhi's Environment, Forest, and Wildlife Minister, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, has announced that vehicles older than 15 years will be prohibited from receiving fuel after March 31. This decision follows a meeting with officials regarding pollution control in the city.
Sirsa stated that a dedicated team would be formed to identify and restrict the movement of such vehicles in and out of Delhi. Additionally, he emphasized that major infrastructures such as Delhi Airport, large office complexes, and hotels would be required to install anti-smog guns to mitigate pollution.
In an ambitious move to combat pollution, Sirsa said that the government plans to explore artificial rain through cloud seeding, which will help clear severe pollution episodes.
The air quality in Delhi often worsens during the winter months, affecting both the city and its surrounding areas.
Earlier this week, Sirsa also launched a sharp criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing the previous government of corrupt practices. He claimed that the AAP government had "looted the public" through multiple scams, including those related to liquor, schools, buses, and CCTVs. "They promised that cameras would catch thefts, but the thieves took the cameras themselves. No scam has been left uncovered," Sirsa added, calling for a CAG audit on the CCTV scandal.
