Odia girl rape case in Delhi: CM Majhi reviews investigation progress

Bhubaneswar, October 17: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today reviewed various aspects of the rape case involving an Odia girl during his New Delhi visit. 

He scrutinized the victim's health, investigation progress, and other matters related to the case in Delhi.

Currently CM Majhi, on a four-day visit to Haryana and Mumbai, reviewed the ongoing investigation by Delhi Police into the alleged sexual assault of a woman from Odisha in Delhi. 

He was briefed by S. Shyni, Inspector General of Police of the Crime against Women & Child Wing (CAW), regarding the developments in the case.

The Odisha state government had previously provided assistance to the victim's family for their travel to Delhi. Senior officials of Odisha Police are maintaining regular contact with their counterparts in Delhi to ensure the identification and arrest of the culprits responsible for the attack.

Odisha's Director General of Police, Y.B. Khurania, has also engaged in discussions with the Delhi Police Commissioner to expedite the investigation. Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Delhi and the Commissioner of Police, seeking a detailed report within two weeks, including updates on the victim's health.

The victim, a nursing graduate from Odisha, was allegedly gang-raped and later found in a semi-conscious state in the Sarai Kale Khan area of Delhi on the night of October 10-11. She is currently getting treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre.

Delhi Police have registered a case against unknown suspects under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and multiple teams have been formed to apprehend those involved.
