Odisha bags 2 medals at Egypt Para Badminton

Bhubaneswar: The Egypt Para Badminton International 2025, held from January 20 to January 26, 2025, in Cairo, Egypt, concluded with Odisha’s para badminton players achieving remarkable success. The contingent brought home two medals, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination.

Deep Ranjan Bisoyee partnering with Dev Rathi won the silver medal in the Men’s doubles SU5 category. Deep Ranjan partnering with Dev Rathi advanced to the finals after a victory over Ibrahim Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Sedat Tumkaya of Turkey in the Semifinals. They were defeated by Indian Pair of Hardik Makkar and Ruthik Raghupati in a hard-fought battle going to the decider in the finals, 21-16, 16-21 and 13-21.

Nurul Hossain Khan partnering David Flotter from England bagged a silver medal in Men’s Doubles WH1-WH2 category.  They defeated the ranked one pair of Mohammad Rizan and Mohammad Rasul of Egypt to move to the finals. They faced the Indian pair of Manjunath Chikkaiyah and Purna Rao  in the final and suffered with 14-21, 11-21.
