Jharsuguda, Feb 9: Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas informed that a case has been filed against senior Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi in the district for allegedly making an "anti-national" statement during his speech.
The FIR was registered at Jharsuguda police station on Friday following a complaint from members of the BJP, its youth wing, RSS, and Bajrang Dal in Jharsuguda district. The complaint was submitted to IGP Northern Range, Himanshu Lal, on February 5, as confirmed by Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas.
Parshottamdas stated that the FIR has been registered against Rahul under Sections 152 (criminalises acts that threaten India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity), and 197(1) (d) (for making or publishing false or misleading information that threatens India’s unity, sovereignty, integrity, or security) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complaint alleged that Rahul has been deliberately making anti-national statements which hurt each and every Indian individual.
The IGP directed the SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas for inquiry and necessary legal action.
