Odisha CM, Dy CMs, LoP condole former Union Minister Debendra Pradhan’s demise

Bhubaneswar, Mar 17: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Pravati Parida and Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik expressed deep condolences over the demise of former Union Minister Debendra Pradhan.

CM Majhi said Pradhan was a skilled parliamentarian and he devoted his entire life to the development of Odisha.

Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, CM Majhi wrote, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of former Union Minister Devendra Pradhan. The late Pradhan was a popular leader and a skilled parliamentarian. As the President of Odisha BJP, he played a crucial role in strengthening the party in the state. With dedication and commitment, he devoted his entire life to the development of Odisha. With his demise, the nation and the state have lost a distinguished public servant. His contributions to the welfare of the people and the progress of the state will always be remembered. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his son, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, and the entire family. May God give them the strength to bear this immense loss. I pray for the departed soul to rest in peace.”

Deputy CM K V Singh Deo extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family and said Odisha has lost a true statesman whose contributions will continue to inspire generations.

“Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of former Union Minister Shri Debendra Pradhan - a towering leader, a dedicated parliamentarian, and a guiding force behind the BJP’s growth in Odisha. His unwavering commitment to public service, leadership, and vision for the state have left an indelible mark. Odisha has lost a true statesman whose contributions will continue to inspire generations. In this moment of profound loss, my deepest condolences to his son, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan and the entire family. Praying for his noble soul to rest in peace. Om Shanti 🙏🏼,” wrote Singh Deo on ‘X’.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida expressed heartfelt condolences over Pradhan’s demise and wrote on ‘X’, “I am deeply saddened and heartbroken to hear about the passing of Dr. Devendra Pradhan, father of Hon’ble Union Education Minister Shri @dpradhanbjp and former Union Minister of Road Transport and Agriculture.”

“At a time when people were hesitant to step out and join the Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr. Devendra Pradhan dedicated himself to strengthening the BJP in Odisha. Leaving behind his medical profession, he joined the BJP as a grassroots worker in 1980 when the party was founded. He began his political journey from Talcher as a Mandal President and later held various important positions, making an invaluable contribution to the growth of BJP in Odisha,” she added.

“In 1998, he was elected as an MP from the Deogarh constituency and served as the Union Minister of State for Road Transport in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. Later, after being re-elected, he took charge as the Union Minister of State for Agriculture. Dr. Devendra Pradhan’s life, dedicated to the BJP in Odisha, is an inspiration for us all. His unwavering commitment to national interest in challenging times laid the foundation for the party, and today, because of his efforts, BJP has successfully formed a government in Odisha. Om Shanti 🙏,” she further added.

Similarly, LoP Naveen said Pradhan will always be remembered for his exceptional organizational skills and humble personality and the state has lost a powerful political figure and a beloved leader.

He will always be remembered for his exceptional organizational skills and humble personality. With his demise, the state has lost a powerful political figure and a beloved leader. In this difficult time, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his son, Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, and the grieving family. I pray for the departed soul to rest in peace,” wrote Naveen on his ‘X’ handle.
