Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday inaugurated the Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital in Jajpur, which is built at a cost of Rs 491.25 crore.
"The newly-established Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital will be instrumental in delivering quality healthcare to the people of Jajpur. The institute has been granted approval for 50 MBBS seats for the current academic year. The state government plans to double the number of MBBS seats in the upcoming academic year," said CM Majhi.
In addition to the medical college, CM Majhi also inaugurated several other projects built at an expenditure of over Rs 16 crore on the premises of the hospital.
CM Majhi also laid the foundation for a new nursing college in Jajpur, with the state government allocating Rs 12 crore for its development.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a town hall and several other projects, including the renovated Vyasa Sarovar (pond) in Jajpur town and announced that the state government will allocate Rs 50 crore for the redevelopment of several subsidiary shrines at the Maa Biraja temple.
Furthermore, Rs 22.43 crore will be spent on the development of Biraja Agneswar Haat in the district. A new bus terminal will also be constructed in Jajpur with an investment of Rs 30 crore.
