Bhubaneswar, October 26 : Odisha Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das has criticized the BJP-led Odisha government’s relief efforts following Cyclone Dana, alleging inadequate support for storm-hit residents.
Das condemned the administration's handling of relief operations, particularly in Bhitarkanika gram panchayat, where crop damage has been extensive, affecting over 50,000 acres of paddy fields.
He highlighted the persistence of power outages, with 14 to 15 villages still lacking electricity and limited generator support in relief shelters. Das urged immediate action to restore essential services, noting that residents face difficult conditions with minimal provisions.
On the other hand, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed satisfaction with the state’s disaster response.
After a Saturday review meeting, Majhi praised the evacuation of eight lakh residents and the state’s achievement of zero casualties.
He credited the preparedness and teamwork of state authorities, despite challenges posed by continued rain and localized flooding.
Majhi reported that relief operations, including electrical restorations and the deployment of 158 police platoons, are actively underway.
