Bhubaneswar: The Odisha FC U-17 team made a thrilling start to their AIFF Elite Youth League campaign 2024-25, clinching a dynamic 5-3 victory over Inter Kashi on Saturday, at the SAI International Residential School, Cuttack.
Odisha FC’s standout performers were Rajdev Mahto, who netted a hat-trick (19’, 45+1’, 52’), and Rais Ahamed Khan, who added a late brace (76’, 79’). For Inter Kashi, Gaurav Chauhan delivered a hat-trick of his own, scoring in the 37th, 63rd, and 65th minutes.
The squad proudly displayed their all-Odia lineup, underscoring the immense talent and potential emerging from the state.
The Kalinga Warriors started the match on the front foot, pressing their opponents relentlessly. Their efforts bore fruit in the 19th minute when Rajdev Mahto delivered a clinical finish to put the home side ahead. However, Inter Kashi equalized before halftime, levelling the scoreline. Just before the halftime whistle, Rajdev Mahto restored Odisha FC’s lead with a stunning header.
The second half began with renewed intensity from both teams. In the 79th minute, the game swung decisively in Odisha FC’s favor as Rais Ahmed Khan produced a masterclass performance, scoring two quick goals within three minutes to give the Kalinga Warriors a commanding lead.
Odisha FC held their ground in the closing stages, sealing an emphatic 5-3 victory to kickstart their campaign on a high note.
