Bhubaneswar, Jan 03: The Odisha government has announced an additional subsidy for the installation of rooftop solar panels under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijili Yojana (PMSG:MBY).
This decision was approved by the state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Providing details of the proposal, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said under the new scheme, the state government will offer an extra subsidy of Rs 25,000 for the installation of rooftop solar panels with a capacity of 1 kilowatt (KW). This subsidy will apply to solar projects with a maximum capacity of 2 KW.
For households installing a 3 KW system, an additional Rs 10,000 subsidy will be provided for the third unit, he said.
The state government plans to allocate approximately Rs 1,800 crore from the 2024-25 to 2026-27 fiscal years for this additional subsidy. It is estimated that around 3 lakh households in Odisha will benefit from this initiative.
In addition to the state subsidy, the Union Government already offers Rs 30,000 for 1 KW solar systems and Rs 60,000 for 2 KW systems.
