Koraput, March 27: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance on Thursday arrested an ICDS official (Anganwadi Supervisor) on the charges of taking bribe.
The accused, identified as Renuka Pattnaik, of Laxmipur Block in Koraput district, was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from an Anganwadi worker.
According to the Vigilance officials, a newly engaged Anganwadi worker, was reportedly being frequently harassed by her Supervisor Pattnaik. She demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe to perform the former’s job in ease.
Today, the Supervisor was caught in the Vigilance net, while she was receiving the bribe money.
Following Pattnaik’s arrest, simultaneous searches were carried out at three different locations linked to her to rule out disproportionate assets (DA).
