Gajapati, Ap 7: Throwing an open challenge to police, some unidentified miscreants have looted cash and gold jewellery worth lakhs after breaking into the house of a resident in Garabandh police limits in Gajapati district last night.
The victim identified as T. Pradeep was on a visit to Tirupati along with his family for a health check-up when the burglary took place.
A group of robbers entered his house late in the night by breaking open the locks of the main gate and decamped with cash worth Rs 80,000 and gold jewellery weighing around 39 tola (454.74 gram).
The loot came to light in the morning after some locals found its gate and doors open. He called up and informed police on the incident.
Being informed, police and scientific team and sniffer dog started investigation into the matter.
