According to Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushnachandra Patra, around 5.9 lakh (590,000) new ration cards will be distributed in phases across the state. District Collectors have been directed to ensure all necessary preparations are completed by today.

However, the minister revealed that approximately 25 lakh (2.5 million) eligible beneficiaries are yet to complete the e-KYC process. To address this, field officials have been instructed to conduct on-ground verification and submit detailed reports.

"Once the verification reports are submitted, a decision will be made on the final list of beneficiaries. This will determine who qualifies for the new ration cards, who does not, and whose names may be removed from the existing list," Minister Patra stated.

The initiative is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to ensure food security and improve transparency in the public distribution system.
