Sambalpur, Mar 4: Ainthapalli police in Odisha’s Sambalpur district nabbed a notorious snatcher following an encounter in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The snatcher, identified as Mahesh Kumar, sustained a bullet injury on his left leg in the police encounter.
As per reports, a gunfight ensued around 5:45 AM near the airstrip road in which Kumar, who was wanted in connection with a snatching case, was injured and nabbed. He was immediately taken to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research for treatment.
The cops seized a 7mm pistol, two empty rounds of ammunition, and Rs 40,000 in cash from his possession.
Notably, a case was registered against Kumar yesterday for allegedly snatching Rs 45,000 at gunpoint. With his arrest, the police have solved the case, and further investigation is ongoing.
