Bhubaneswar, July 11: A special robot prepared by Rourkela NIT today joined the rescue operation of a youth, who has gone missing after falling into the Tapang stone quarry at Bada Saunlia under Tapang police limits in Odisha’s Khurda district.
The stone quarry is around 100 feet deep. We are meticulously scanning the area inch by inch, and the operation will continue throughout the day, stated an NIT official.
It is worth mentioning that the youth, identified as Om Prakash Rath, had come to the stone quarry with three of his friends to shoot a reel on Monday. He was making reels by standing on the brink of the lake when he fell into the quarry and went missing.
Upon getting the information, Fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and alunched a rescue operation to trace him. Later, the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), and the National Disaster Rapid Action Force (NDRF) also joined the operation.
