Sundargarh, Apr 9: Tension gripped the Tensa area of Koida block in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today after two police constables were seriously injured in a knife attack while trying to resolve a conflict between two families.
The injured policemen have been identified as Pruthviraj Parida and Shri Routray, both posted at the Tensa police outpost.
According to reports, the constables rushed to the C-block area of Tensa after being alerted about a heated clash between two families. As they tried to calm the situation and disarm one person holding an axe, another member from one of the families suddenly attacked them with a knife.
Both constables suffered serious injuries in the incident.
Other police personnel from the outpost quickly arrived at the scene and took the injured to Tensa hospital. One of the constables was later shifted to Rourkela Government Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Members from both families involved in the fight have been detained. A probe into the matter is underway and strict action will be taken against those responsible for attacking police officers on duty, said the police.
