Nayagarh, Ap 16: Rajesh Kumar Srichandan, a 2017 batch officer stationed at Sarankul Police Station in Nayagarh district, was arrested by the Odisha Vigilance for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.
Acting on a tip-off, the anti-corruption agency laid a trap and caught Srichandan red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000.
The bribe money was recovered from Srichandan’s possession and seized in the presence of witnesses. A chemical test conducted on both hand and pant pocket washes of Srichandan confirmed the acceptance and handling of the bribe.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at several locations associated with the accused. Srichandan has been detained for further interrogation.
A case, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 07/2025, has been registered against Srichandan under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
