Odisha: Worker killed in mishap in IOCL Paradip, sparks unrest

Bhubaneswar, March 1: A tragic incident occurred at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) oil refinery in Paradip on Saturday, resulting in the death of a worker and sparking unrest among other workers at the site.

The deceased has been identified as Pappu Majhi, a resident of Kaliapat village under the Kujang police station area.

Reports indicate that the accident took place during piling work at the refinery, which is being carried out by Krishna Builders, a contractor working with IOCL. While dismantling a piling pole using machinery, the pole fell onto a worker, causing severe injuries.

 Upon seeing his critical condition, I rushed him to the Atharabanki Community Health Center, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

The tragic incident has caused significant unrest among the workers at the refinery.
