Bhubaneswar, January 20: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC), Odisha Unit staged a protest on Monday, alleging non-performance by the Mohan Charan Majhi government. The demonstration, led by IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib, witnessed hundreds of opposition members participating in a rally that was stopped near Lower PMG by police while attempting to march towards the Chief Minister’s residence.

A brief scuffle ensued, but no injuries were reported. Several IYC leaders were temporarily detained and later released.

Chib criticized the "double engine" government, accusing it of failing across critical sectors such as employment generation, farmer welfare, and women’s safety. "We demand Chief Minister Majhi’s resignation for his failure to address pressing issues concerning youth, farmers, and women," he stated.

Responding to it, BJP Yuva Morcha state president Abhilash Panda said the Congress party is struggling with an identity crisis in Odisha. This demonstration is a political stunt.
