Srinagar, Apr 27: Amid the ongoing tensions over the horrific Pahalgam terrorist attack that claimed lives of 26 people, Pakistan Army engaged in unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the third consecutive day on Sunday. It prompted a swift and appropriate response from the Indian Army.
“On the night of 26-27 April 2025, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in the areas opposite Tutmari Gali and Rampur Sectors. Own troops responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire,” said Defence Ministry spokesperson.
Multiple Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked small arms firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on the intervening night of April 25-26. Indian troops responded appropriately with small arms to counter the ceasefire violations.
The Pakistan Army had also engaged in small arms firing at various locations along the LoC on April 24, which was effectively retaliated.
However, no casualties have been reported from the ceasefire violations by Pakistan over the past three days.
Notably, as many as 28 civilians, mostly tourists, were killed when terrorists opened fire at Baisaran, a well-known meadow near the resort town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, around 3 PM on Tuesday (April 22). It was one of the worst attacks in the region since the Pulwama bombing in 2019.
The nation was left outraged by this cowardly act of terrorism. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his first reaction to Pahalgam killings that the terrorists, their handlers and backers would he chased and hunted down to the ends of the earth.
In response to the Pahalgam attack and growing tensions, India has taken strong steps against Pakistan, including:
- Suspending the Indus Waters Treaty
- Shutting down the integrated check post at Attari
- Cancelling SAARC visa exemptions
- Revoking visas already issued to Pakistani nationalsnnn
