Paris, Aug 8: After the shocking exit of Indian woman wrestler Vinesh Phogat from the Gold medal bout on Wednesday, there was hardly any good news from the wrestling rings for India.
Woman debutant wrestler Antim Pnghal lost her first fight badly on Wednesday. But there seems to be a silver lining amidst dark clouds.
On Thursday, Indian wrestler Aman Sehrawat beat Macedonia's Vladimir Egorov convincingly to advance into the quarterfinals of the men's 57kg freestyle at the Paris Olympics 2024. The 21-year-old secured a decisive 10-0 victory, showcasing the perfect technical superiority.
Aman Sehrawat, who is also the Asian Championship Gold medallist and the only male wrestler from India to qualify for the Olympics. His opponent was 29-year-old and is a former European champion.
Following Aman's all-out attack, Egorov seemed to be in a bit of bother after the first round, requiring medical attention on his knee.
The quarterfinal bout of Aman Sehrawat will take place later in the day, the Day 13 Paris Games 2024 schedule revealed.
