Physiotherapy centres for senior citizens in 30 districts

Bhubaneswar, Oct 1: Mobile medicare units and physiotherapy centres will be started in 30 districts of the state for senior citizens. Training will be imparted for geriatric care giving, said Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister for Social Security and Empowerment of PwDs. Addressing a virtual programme organised by the Department of SSEPD, on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons, Minister Panda said that facility of online grievance registration and redressal under 5T initiative is being provided for senior citizens. In addition, the Department is working with UNDP to expand digital literacy among senior citizens in the state. Bhaskar Sarma, Commissioner, SSEPD Department outlined the theme of International Day of Older Persons 2022 "Resilience of Older People in a Changing World" and emphasized on mental health of elderly people. Bratati Harichandan, Director of the Department said on the "Abadana" Scheme meant for the welfare of senior citizens.
